Koean, b.1952

Starting in the late 1970s, this artist began creating hyper-realistic works and became a pioneer of Korean hyperrealism. In 1981, he won an award at the 30th National Art Exhibition, and in 1983, he received the Gold Medal at the Asia Art Biennale. Over more than 40 years, he has continuously explored the concepts of time and existence, even in the face of a challenging reality. His highly detailed depictions invite us to reconsider the essence of time, not as something that simply passes, but as something that permeates our inner world, leading us into a space of reflection and contemplation.
