Lee In creates artworks that focus on the space between ‘myself’ and the world, and between what we can see and what we can’t. Her works are based on painting but also include objects and three-dimensional pieces. She often mixes realistic and abstract elements, without sticking to just one style or way of looking at things. She tries to keep a sense of balance in her work—so that life doesn’t lean too much in one direction. The objects and scenes she shows feel both real and symbolic, familiar but also a little strange. Her work develops in two directions: one called “Palette, something”, which looks at everyday things, and the other called “Black, something”, which looks at shadows inside the mind.
