Yoon Suknam
윤석남
Korea, b.1939
For over four decades, Yun Suk-nam has played a key role in shaping Korean feminist art by focusing on women’s lives, struggles, and identities. Her work highlights social oppression faced by women, aiming not only to depict but to redefine and reconstruct women's rights and presence. Beyond her artistic practice, she has been deeply engaged in feminist cultural activities, believing that art should challenge societal norms rather than remain a form of pure expression. Through this approach, she has opened new paths in Korean contemporary art.
