Lee Youngae
이영애
Korean, b.1947
Born in 1947, Lee Young-ae graduated from the Department of Industrial Fine Arts at Seoul Women's University. She has participated in numerous curated exhibitions, including the 2018 Asia Contemporary Art Show at the Conrad Hong Kong. Deeply committed to "empathy through painting," she brings a rich sensibility to her work by harmonizing diverse Eastern and Western formative techniques, utilizing canvas, Hanji (traditional Korean paper), ink, acrylic paint, and Ottchil (traditional lacquer). Her compositions frequently feature circles, straight lines, and diagonal lines, presenting a "journey toward the most fundamental origin that can convey human emotion" through a clean and simple visual language.
