Renowned Korean ink wash painter Ryu Jae-chun, considered a leading figure in contemporary Korean ink wash painting, has been actively engaging in both domestic and international art fairs and solo exhibitions, extending his influence beyond Asia to countries like China, Singapore, and even Germany. Recently, he has been pioneering new avenues in the realm of ink wash painting by incorporating various media such as LED lighting. Furthermore, he made headlines by being the first in Korea to issue NFT (Non-Fungible Token) ink wash paintings, selling 200 pieces in just 10 seconds. Art critic Kim No-am remarked, "The artist is opening new horizons for traditional painting within the contemporary context and utilizing new media environments." He added, "Through the fusion of tradition and artistic innovation, the artist is achieving new forms and expressions that bestow a fresh aesthetic significance upon contemporary Korean ink wash painting."
