[Second Glance] highlights the artistic worlds of Hiroyuki and Moon Seon Mee, two artists who offer new perspectives on the familiar. At first glance, their works, with cartoon-like and charming forms, evoke immediate emotion and connection. While the initial impression of “cuteness” may be dismissed as light or superficial, these artists use that familiar language to uncover unexpected emotional depth and complexity. Behind the simple and whimsical imagery lies a spectrum of emotions, social insight, and playful philosophical inquiries. This exhibition focuses on that second layer—the meanings that surface when we take a second look. Hiroyuki reinterprets iconic figures from art history Leonardo da Vinci, Van Gogh, Jan van Eyck, Gustav Klimt, Magritte as cats, playfully blurring the boundaries between classical and contemporary art. Moon Seon Mee presents uniquely shaped female characters to explore the tension between socially constructed ideals of femininity and the personal desires that lie beneath. Both artists invite viewers to re-examine the familiar through humor and wit.
